General Areas of Responsibility
Due to consistent growth domestically and internationally, Flexicon is seeking an experienced candidate to fill a CNC / Manual Machine Operator position in Bethlehem, PA.
The ideal candidate is an energetic individual with a positive attitude who responds well within a team environment. Responsible for the setup, operation, and maintaining both CNC and manual machines to produce precision metal and plastic parts. The machinist will read and interpret blueprints, perform setups, verify dimensions, and ensure high-quality production while maintaining safe work practices.
Requirements
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and manual machines (e.g., Bridgeport mills, engine lathes, grinders, drill press, brake press, sheet/tube lasers).
- Machine parts and components within the specified tolerances, with limited rework/scrap, and in time with production standards.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications, and quality standards using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Collaborate with engineers, team leads, and supervisors to improve machining processes and solve production issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal operation.
- Follow all safety guidelines and quality standards.
- Perform other work-related task as assigned.
- Use blueprints, bills of material, work orders, or sample parts to determine machining requirements. (e.g., GD&T, operation sequences, setup requirements).
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials
- Calculate and set controls to regulate cutting, and turning factors, such as feed, speeds, and part clearances, and to enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit machine tool programs.
- Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerances conditions, and adjust machine controls as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certificate preferred.
- 3+ years of machining experience (CNC and manual preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and G-code.
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
- Proficiency in measuring tools and basic shop math.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for long periods
