Flexicon is seeking exceptional candidates to fill several industrial manufacturing positions at our world headquarters in Bethlehem, PA.
The ideal candidate is an energetic individual with a positive attitude who responds well within a team environment. A good mechanical aptitude is also essential to understand the various steps associated with steel fabrication. This role will grind and polish, using hand tools or hand held power tools to finish and deburr various sheet metal and steel structural components.
Responsibilities
- Grind, sand, clean, or polish steel components to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
- Clean workpieces or finished products.
- Polish materials, workpieces, or finished products.
- Smooth metal surfaces or edges.
- Mark defects such as cracks, holes and splits for repair.
- Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information.
- Move controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding and polishing processes.
- Operate grinding equipment.
- Select specific tools and abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of workpieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
- Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.
- Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
- Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- Remove weld splater, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tools and equipment.
- Record product and processing data on specified forms.
- Apply solutions and chemicals to equipment, objects, or parts, using hand tools.
- Remove completed workpieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools and powered lift equipment including a forklift.
Requirements
- Experience in use of powered hand grinding equipment
- Experience in bead blast operation for steel components is highly preferred
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to understand basic mechanical fabrication drawings
- Ability to understand material routing and work instructions
- Basic computer skills
- Previous experience in spray paint finish operations a plus
- Previous experience in blast booth operations a plus
- Forklift training a plus
